Firmino reveals he has asked Brazil team-mate Alisson to Liverpool

Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino has admitted asking his compatriot Alisson to join him at Anfield.

Roma goalkeeper Alisson is in demand this summer with his club looking for £80million aware that Liverpool, Real Madrid and Chelsea have all expressed an interest.

Firmino said: ‘Every once in a while I give him a pinch to come to Liverpool to help us and such, but it’s with his agents. It would not hurt if he came to Liverpool.’

The Reds have been linked with a goalkeeper since their crisis in between the sticks was not truly resolved last season.

Loris Karius took the No 1 spot from Simon Mignolet and enjoyed a prolonged spell in goal for the Reds, which dovetailed with a run to the Champions League final.

It was in the Kiev showdown with Real Madrid that Karius committed two errors, leading to goals for Zinedine Zidane’s side.

Later scans showed Karius to have played through the showpiece event having suffered concussion following an off-the-ball incident with Sergio Ramos.

The incident with the Madrid captain occurred two minutes before the first of his monumental errors.

Liverpool have backed the young German, though are still on the look-out for top quality between the sticks.

Alisson is set to head to the World Cup as Brazil’s first choice goalkeeper, and recently played at Anfield during a friendly match victory over Croatia.
