Ferdinand Urges Rashford To Save Career By Leaving Man United

Rio Ferdinand has reportedly stated what Manchester United forward, Marcus Rashford needs to do in order to save his footballing career.

This season, Rashford has struggled severely. Most of his eight goals and six assists came during a month-long run at the beginning of the year, when he seemed to be turning the corner. However, in recent weeks, he has regressed and struggled once more.

It’s a far cry from the 30 goals and 11 assists he tallied the previous season, or the thirty-five goals he was involved in in the 2021/22 campaign.

The 26-year-old’s troubles have come along with United’s collapse from the Champions League race, as Erik ten Hag has failed to get any consistency out of his squad.

The people in his entourage hold the key to helping the 26-year-old return to his peak form and salvage his career at Old Trafford, according to Red Devils legend and current pundit Ferdinand.

What Did Ferdinand Say About Rashford?

“It’s a pivotal moment in his [Marcus Rashford’s] career now,” said Ferdinand, speaking on the Stick to Football podcast as reported by The Independent. “He’s not a kid anymore.

“A lot of people look at potential and talent. He’s 26 – what were you [the panel] doing at 26? We were still making mistakes, don’t get me wrong, but on the football pitch you had it locked down, you knew what you were doing, you knew what you were about, who you were.

“There’s a big decision to make for him. He’s got to look at who is around him.

“He’ll need to either decide to get rid of them and stay in Manchester or leave Manchester and get rid of those people. It might be an accumulation of different things.

“But that could be a big part because the people around you do have a big influence on how you are – especially accountability.”
