‘F*cking rubbish!’ – Erik Ten Hag scolds Zidane Iqbal During Manchester United Pre-Season Training

Erik ten Hag yelled at Manchester United prospect Zidane Iqbal, during open pre-season training, calling the youngster’s performance “f*cking rubbish.” The Dutch head coach has a reputation for being a strict disciplinarian, and this was just the latest example of that since he took over. Last month, he yelled at the team for not passing accurately during practice and seemed furious late in their preseason match against Crystal Palace.

However, midfielder Bruno Fernandes believes the harsh approach is beneficial to the team after a disastrous 2021-22 season. The international player for Portugal said he had “no problems” with Ten Hag’s style.

In their preseason preparations thus far, Manchester United have performed admirably, winning all three of their exhibition games.

Why Did Erik Ten Hag Shout At Zidane Iqbal?

On Thursday morning, Ten Hag did not hold back in criticizing Zidane for his performance in a quick keep-ball drill.

When the Dutch coach noticed the 19-year-old making a mistake during the drill, he yelled at him, Zidane… hey. Keep the ball. F****** rubbish!”

Iqbal has performed admirably in United’s three preseason games thus far after coming on as a substitute, and earlier this month, reports stated Ten Hag was ‘surprised’ that the midfielder had played so little under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer or Ralf Rangnick last season.

When Is Man United’s Next Game?

This month, the Red Devils have three more practice games. On Saturday, they will play Aston Villa before facing Atletico Madrid and Rayo Vallecano.

Their Premier League campaign kicks off on August 7th against Brighton.
