Fabinho: Fred Has Unfairly Been Made A Scapegoat At Man United

Prior to Monday’s crucial Premier League match between the two rivals at Old Trafford, Liverpool player Fabinho has defended Manchester United’s Fred.

The Red Devils are entering the game after having a terrible season to date. In their first match, Erik ten Hag’s team lost to Brighton 2-1, and then were destroyed 4-0 by Brentford in the second league game.

Since joining from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2018 for a cost of £52.5m ($70m), Fred has frequently received criticism from fans.

What Did Fabinho Say About His Brazil Teammate?

According to Fabinho, who represents Brazil internationally, Fred has been unfairly singled out since he arrived at Old Trafford.

“Sometimes I don’t really understand the criticisms with Fred because he is a regular player, he always plays good football,” he said.

“In general Manchester United have not been successful in the last seasons so you try to find a solution or you try to put the fault on some of the players and sometimes I think Fred is that player.

“But he is a good player, in the national team, he is always a starter, he always plays good and, yes, sometimes the player needs a little bit more confidence to play good.

“Last season he played really good football, maybe he was one of the best United players. This season United didn’t start really good but I hope Fred will play good and United will stay playing like this.”

United takes on Liverpool aiming for their first points of the new campaign while their opponents are still searching for their first victory. In their first two games, Fulham and Crystal Palace both held Liverpool to draws.
