Ex-Man United Manager In Line For Leicester City Job

Former Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly in contention for the vacant managerial position at Leicester City.

The Foxes hierarchy are considering their options following their relegation from the Premier League before seeking to secure an instant comeback.

Dean Smith, the caretaker manager, has not yet been officially excluded from keeping his position. And discussions with the Englishman are understood to have continued.

The East Midlands club, though, appears to be considering other options as they strive to make their decision as soon as possible to start Championship preparations.

The Daily Mail claimed that Smith is among the top candidates on their shortlist. Along with former Manchester City assistant coach Enzo Maresca and ex-Fulham manager Scott Parker.

But according to the same article, Solskjaer has emerged as an unexpected contender for a role again in England’s second division.

The Man United legend left his position as Red Devils’ manager in November 2021. Ending a 168-game tenure, and hasn’t been employed since.

Despite amassing 91 victories and 40 losses and making it to the Europa League final, opinions on Solskjaer’s performance at the Theatre of Dreams are divided.

Nevertheless, the Norwegian is reportedly supported in the Leicester boardroom. Which keeps him as a long shot to move to the King Power Stadium.

The 50-year-old had only a brief stint in the Championship with Cardiff City in 2014. During which time he oversaw the club’s relegation from the Premier League and was fired from his job less than a month into the new season.
