Ex-Man City Manager Shows Interest To Snap Up De Gea

Real Betis are reportedly keen to make a move for former Manchester United goalkeeper, David De Gea on a free transfer.

The Spanish club are willing to give the 32-year-old the opportunity to return home where he began his career in Atletico Madrid before making a move to United in 2011.

De Gea is currently a free agent after he was released by the Red Devils last season when his contract expired.

Former Manchester City boss, Manuel Pellegrini, who is currently the manager of Betis, is believed to be eyeing up a move for De Gea.

High-profile moves to clubs like Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Inter Milan have been linked to him. But none of these happened yet, leaving him a free agent.

According to the Spanish daily Fichajes as reported by Metro, Betis are reportedly leading the race to sign the seasoned shot-stopper as Pellegrini looks for a new goalie.

According to the publication, Valencia are also interested in De Gea, but Betis is the Spanish international’s preferred option.

While Pellegrini’s team has had a difficult campaign thus far, they have picked up seven points from their opening five games. With their two defeats coming against Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao.

Since leaving the English top flight, De Gea has had plenty of options. And it is still unclear whether he would accept the challenge at the Estadio Benito Villamarín given that he continues to train alone.
