Ex-Bayern Munich Boss Debunks Rumors Of Transfer Move To Liverpool

There has been talk of former Bayern Munich manager Kovac joining Anfield, as the Reds continue to look for a replacement for Klopp.

The Croatian is adamant that these reports are inaccurate even though he hasn’t had any discussions about taking over as Liverpool’s manager.

“A lot of writing is always about it, but it’s all just hype,” he said to Sportkrone.

Kovac has been unemployed for a month, after being fired by Wolfsburg late in his second season as manager.

Ralph Hasenhuttl, a former Southampton manager, took over at the Volkswagen Arena.

The Bayern manager who took over in 2018 and 2019 is most remembered for leading the Bavarian giants to their sixth European Cup, which ended in the Champions League’s round of sixteen.

Kovac’s Bayern won 7-2 on the road against Tottenham Hotspur just before he left the Allianz Arena.

Before that, Kovac established himself as a successful club manager at Eintracht Frankfurt, where he helped them win the 2018 DFB-Pokal, ending a 30-year trophy drought. In his final game as manager, the team defeated Bayern in the final before Kovac left for Bavaria.

In 2012, Kovac started his managerial career as the head coach of Croatia’s Under-21 team. From 2013 to 2015, he led the senior team, most notably to victory at the 2014 FIFA World Cup. They lost out in the group stage.

While this is going on, Liverpool is still selecting which managerial targets to interview. According to 90 min, they would like to speak with three applicants before selecting a finalist.

At the moment, Ruben Amorim of Sporting CP is the front-runner.
