Eto’o agree deal to join Turkish champions Besiktas

Samuel Eto’o is set to move across Turkey to join league champions Besiktas, after they reportedly agreed to sign the forward.

The former Cameroon international has had a glittering career, which included scoring over 100 goals for Catalan giants Barcelona, but his time in the game had hit a brick wall in recent seasons.

Eto’o joined Chelsea back in the summer of 2013 when Jose Mourinho took a gamble on him and brought him to Stamford Bridge.

However, after his one-year deal expired in the capital, the former Real Madrid striker joined Everton – a move which failed to reap the dividends.

Eto’o managed just three league goals in 14 games and so his time there was cut short – joining Italian outfit Sampdoria on a two-and-a-half year deal, before once again leaving there in 2015 to join Antalyaspor.

The striker was in fine form for the latter last season after netting 20 goals in 31 league games, but as a result it appears his time with the club is nearing an end.

Goal report that Besiktas will sign Eto’o in an attempt to replace Mario Gomez after being left impressed with the 35-year-old’s performances last season.

The Germany striker recently confirmed his departure from the last season’s champions, after political issues in the country left him and his family feeling unsafe.
