Erik ten Hag Wins Premier League Manager Of The Month

Manchester United Manager Erik ten Hag has been named Premier League Manager of the Month for September.

The Dutchman had a rough start to life at Old Trafford, losing at home to Brighton & Hove Albion and 4-0 to Brentford in his first two competitive games.

However, the Red Devils have won four consecutive league games since then, including wins against Leicester City and league leaders Arsenal in September.

The death of Queen Elizabeth II resulted in a shortened Premier League schedule in September, with Manchester United’s final domestic match scheduled for September 4.

Their two wins this month, however, were enough to secure Ten Hag his first Premier League Manager of the Month award, while Marcus Rashford also won Player of the Month.

Ten Hag is the second Manchester United manager to receive the accolade since Sir Alex Ferguson resigned in 2013, succeeding Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who won it in January 2019.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte and Bournemouth caretaker Gary O’Neil were the other two nominees for the award in September.

Sir Alex Ferguson, United’s iconic former manager, owns the record for the most monthly wins with a stunning 27.

And, until Solskjaer, he was the last United manager to receive the award, in October 2012.

During their stints as Manchester United managers, David Moyes, Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho, and Ralf Rangnick all did not win the award.

Man United’s next encounter is a short trip to the Etihad Stadium to play local rivals and defending champions Manchester City in the Manchester derby on Sunday.
