Erik ten Hag Nominated For Premier League Manager Of The Month

Erik ten Hag is among the three nominees for the Premier League Manager of the Month award for September.

The former Ajax manager had a horrible start to life as manager, losing to Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford, but he has subsequently turned the Red Devils’ fortunes around.

Man United will approach October with a spotless record of two victories from two Premier League matches in September after defeating Liverpool and Southampton at the end of August.

Because of Queen Elizabeth II’s death and state burial, Manchester United only played two Premier League games in September, beating Leicester City 1-0 thanks to Jadon Sancho’s goal.

After Antony’s debut goal and Marcus Rashford’s brace, the Red Devils defeated league leaders Arsenal 3-1, propelling Ten Hag’s team to fifth place in the Premier League table.

Erik ten Hag Nominated For PL Manager Of The Month?

Ten Hag has been nominated for manager of the month for the first time, and he is not the only Red Devils representative up for an award in September.

Rashford is one of six nominees for the Premier League’s Player of the Month award, along with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Alex Iwobi, Philip Billing, Jacob Ramsey, and Kevin De Bruyne.

Premier League Manager Of The Month Nominees:

Spurs boss Conte joins Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Hojbjerg as a September nominee. Tottenham Hotspur are still within striking distance of league leaders Arsenal after beating Fulham and Leicester City earlier this month.

Spurs, who suffered their first Champions League defeat of the season on September 13 against Sporting Lisbon, are only one point behind Arsenal, whom they can overtake if they win the North London derby on October 1.

Conte was voted Manager of the Month three times in a row during Chelsea’s victorious 2016-17 season, winning in October, November, and December.

Six years ago, the 53-year-old became the first man in history to win three straight Premier League Manager of the Month awards, although Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp have both done so subsequently.

Finally, stand-in Bournemouth coach Gary O’Neil is nominated with Ten Hag and Conte for his work at the Vitality Stadium following Scott Parker’s dismissal.

The 39-year-old has gone unbeaten in his first three games as manager of the newly-promoted Cherries, drawing with Wolverhampton Wanderers and Newcastle United before winning 3-2 against Nottingham Forest.

Bournemouth came from 2-0 down to overcome Steve Cooper’s team 3-2 at the City Ground on September 3, and they entered the international break in 12th place, four points clear of the relegation zone.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta won the accolade in August following the Gunners’ flawless start to the new season, but the 40-year-old has been ignored this time despite maintaining the North London club atop the Premier League table.
