Dutch sensation Tahith Chong confirms transfer to Man United

Tahith Chong has confirmed he is set to leave Feyenoord to join Manchester United, stating he had a “better feeling” when meeting with the English club.

The 16-year-old has impressed greatly in the youth ranks of the Eredivisie giants, having played in the Under-17 side for the past two seasons.

A left-footed wide-man, Chong has thus far shown a good technical ability, coupled with a level of pace and power which could thrive in the Premier League.

As such, United have seemingly completed a transfer for the Holland U17 international, who has netted once in 11 games for his country.

The playmaker revealed to Elf Voetbal: “It was my intention to stay at Feyenoord, but no plan was made for me.

“When I said I wanted to leave, they made a plan. That was too late.

“At Manchester United I had a better feeling. You can feel it immediately when you walk in a club.”

His new club are currently managed by a compatriot in Louis van Gaal, who has won over portions of the United fan-base in recent weeks through his insistence on blooding young players – a trait which would no doubt appeal to Chong.

Indeed, Van Gaal has used the likes of Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, Marcus Rashford, and Timothy Fosu-Mensah – another Dutchman – prominently in the senior side this season.

Rashford has been the undoubted star of the team since his breakthrough in February, going on to net seven goals across all competitions.

The 18-year-old centre-forward has also impressed with an 88% shot accuracy in the Premier League, demonstrating his clinical touch at such a tender age.

However, many Red Devils supporters continue to question the current manager, who has overseen a rather dull season in an attacking sense, with his side averaging just eight chances per league match.
