The transfer of Diego Costa to Wolves has been delayed after the Spanish international was refused a work visa, with the club now looking to file an appeal.
Wolves had planned to bring in the 33-year-old in time for Saturday’s match against Liverpool after Sasa Kalajdzic was forced to miss the match with an ACL injury sustained during their victory over Southampton.

There are reports the club was concerned about the possibility of obtaining a work permit even before he was granted a contract. Costa hasn’t played any professional match since December 12 of last year.
Wolves have appealed to the Football Association and hope to have the original decision overturned. They are expected to have a final answer within 48 hours.
Costa spent three and a half years at Atletico Madrid after leaving Chelsea in the summer of 2017, scoring 19 goals in 81 games across all competitions before his contract was voluntarily terminated in December 2020.
The forward joined Atletico Mineiro in August 2021 and scored five times in 19 games, but saw his contract terminated in January of this year.
Despite being linked with fellow Brazilian team Corinthians, he has yet to find a club. He was reportedly close to signing a contract with Rayo Vallecano in August of last year.
