Deportivo de la Coruna manager Gaizka Garitano says he predicted the referee would not call time on his side’s away game against Real Madrid until La Liga’s leaders had scored.
His comments came after witnessing his side leave the Bernabeu empty-handed despite taking a 2-1 lead into the final 10 minutes of normal time.
Madrid equalised in the 84th minute before the fourth official signalled five minutes of stoppage time.
“We have lost. We had it in our hands and that’s why we are disgusted. We played a great game,” Garitano said afterwards, as reported by the Sport.
“When the referee added on five minutes of added time we knew that it was going to be until Madrid scored.”
Los Blancos had taken a first-half lead through Alvaro Morata before Joselu scored in the 63rd and 65th minutes.
Mariano Diaz levelled the score and then Sergio Ramos scored yet another stoppage time goal, having done the same against Barcelona in last week’s 1-1 El Clasico draw.
The result consigned Depor to a third defeat in four games, leaving them a point above the relegation zone.
Next up is a visit from bottom side Osasuna, who have lost their last five La Liga fixtures.
