De Gea Responds To Newcastle Transfer Interest

Former Manchester United goalkeeper, David de Gea has reportedly responded to Newcastle United’s interest to sign him as a replacement for Nick Pope who is currently on the sidelines due to the shoulder injury he sustained in the Magpies’ 1-0 win against Erik ten Hag’s side on Saturday.

De Gea is one goalie Newcastle are considering, as they are really thinking about bringing in a shot-stopper.

After spending 12 years at Old Trafford, United released the Spaniard in the summer, and he is still a free agent.

The former goalkeeper for Atletico Madrid is said to have preferred a summer return to Spain. Most recently, he has been linked to a move to Inter Miami in the Major League Soccer.

De Gea has also returned to Manchester in recent weeks, which has fueled rumors about his improbable comeback to the team given Andre Onana’s struggles.

According to ESPN as reported by The Metro, the 33-year-old has been training frequently, and he is open to moving to Newcastle.

Arsenal shot-stopper, Aaron Ramsdale has also been linked to a transfer to Tyneside, and he is apparently receptive to the plan.

The England international, who will be keen to play for the first team next summer with Euro 2024 looming large, has lost his spot in Mikel Arteta’s starting XI to David Raya this season.

When questioned on Monday about Ramsdale’s future, Arteta was unable to completely rule out a January departure. But he does think he wants to stay in north London.

‘He’s willing to play. Like any player, he wants to play for Arsenal. That’s what he wants to do,’ Arteta said.
