De Bruyne Reacts To Pep Guardiola’s “Can Be Better” Comments

Kevin De Bruyne has dismissed his manager’s criticism that he can still improve for Manchester City, claiming that he is pleased with his present form and did not interpret the comments negatively.

The Beelgian has produced two outstanding goals in as many games, including a stunning free kick that won the game against Leicester and a curling effort against Brighton that closed a tight contest.

Pep Guardiola raised eyebrows when he stated that he believed De Bruyne wasn’t performing at his best and could be better following the goal against Brighton.

The goal came after the Belgian was named in third place in the 2022 Balon d’Or.

De Bruyne’s decisive free-kick a week later helped City defeat Leicester, and Guardiola proclaimed the Belgian to be “back.”

What De Bruyne Said About Guardiola’s Comments

Speaking after the game, De Bruyne acknowledged his manager’s criticism. However, he felt he was playing well and was confident in his contributions to the team.

Laughing when Guardiola’s comments were put to him, De Bruyne said: “I don’t know.

“I tried to play as good as possible! We play so many games and it is so hectic. The schedule so difficult, some games are better than others.

“I am fairly happy with the way I play. Can you do better? Yes, of course. But I do not take it too much as criticism.
