David De Gea- I Hope To Retire At Manchester United

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has announced his intention to retire from the club after months of speculation about his future.

The Spain international has now entered the last six months of his contract with the Red Devils and is free to begin talks with foreign clubs about a pre-contract agreement.

De Gea, who has been with Man United since 2011, could leave on a free transfer at the end of the season if a reported one-year extension clause in his contract is not activated.

The 32-year-old has maintained the top spot at Man United under Erik ten Hag after fending off Dean Henderson and Martin Dubravka, who has since returned to his parent club Newcastle United.

Nevertheless, the Red Devils have been linked with a number of goalkeepers in the event that De Gea does leave, including Jan Oblak, Jordan Pickford, Yann Sommer, and Diogo Costa.

However, in an interview with Sky Sports News, The Spain international, who turns 33 in November, expressed his desire to stay in goal for the Red Devils until the end of his playing career.

When asked about the ongoing contract talks, De Gea said, “I’m very relaxed. I just focus on training, perform as best as I can. But, for sure, it’s going to end in a good way.

“I hope (to stay for the rest of my career). I was saying this is my club, I’ve been here many, many years and it’s a huge honour to be here and I’m so happy here.”

The 32-year-old has won the Premier League, Europa League, FA Cup, EFL Cup, and three Community Shields at the Theatre of Dreams, but he is about to enter his sixth year without a trophy.
