Daniel Levy Explains Why Spurs Part Ways With Antonio Conte

It was not really a surprise when Tottenham Hotspur decided to relieve Antonio Conte from his managerial duties at the club. With the way and manner he spoke about his players, the management, and the club at large. It is only a matter of time before he gets the hook from his employers.

The Italian took aim at the above listed when Spurs surrendered a two goal lead against Southampton to share the spoils in a six goal thriller.

The chairman of the club, Daniel Levy has explained the reason the management of the club decided to let go of the 53-year-old.

Levy explained why he felt he had little option but to part ways with Conte at this point in the season. In a brief statement posted on the club website late Sunday night, he said as reported by The Mirror:

“We have 10 Premier League games remaining and we have a fight on our hands for a Champions League place. We all need to pull together. Everyone has to step up to ensure the highest possible finish for our Club and amazing, loyal supporters.”

It is clear that Levy believed that the club’s best option was to dismiss Conte Because Spurs’ push for the UEFA Champions League place was only going to result in disappointment.

The latest news from Spurs also made it official that Cristian Stellini will act as the head coach. While, Ryan Mason will serve as Stellini’s assistant for the rest of the season. Given that Mason acted as the interim manager when Jose Mourinho was fired in early 2021. The choice might come as a surprise.
