Cristiano Ronaldo scored from the penalty spot for Portugal, becoming the first player to score in five World Cup tournaments.
The 37-year-old former Manchester United forwardย won and netted a penalty in the top corner of Portugal’s first Group H match, extending his historic scoring record to five consecutive World Cups.

Ronaldo, who made his World Cup debut in 2006, scored again from 12 yards in Portugal’s last Group Stage encounter against Iran.
With the goal, Ronaldo became the youngest Portuguese player in FIFA World Cup history at the age of 21 years and 132 days.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner also scored in a penalty shootout win over England in the quarter-finals, although the goal is not included in his total of seven.
Ronaldo scored in a 7-0 thumping of North Korea before being knocked out in the round of 16 by eventual winners Spain.
Ronaldo scored just once in Brazil, a late victory for Portugal in a 2-1 triumph over Ghana, but Portugal failed to advance out of Group G due to a knee injury.
Despite this, the Portuguese icon left his imprint on the 2018 tournament in spectacular fashion, scoring a hat-trick in Portugal’s opening match to rescue a 3-3 draw with Iberian rivals Spain. Ronaldo, who also scored against Morocco, is yet to score for his team outside of the group stage.

Ronaldo’s penalty, which earned him the honour of Portugal’s oldest goalscorer, was not without controversy.
Salisu’s tackle was soft at best, but upon review, the Southampton defender failed to grab any of the ball, and Ronaldo stepped up to make headlines yet again.
