Copa America: Sanchez nets brace as Chile humble Panama while Lamela helps Argentina see off Bolivia

Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez netted twice as Chile came from behind to beat Panama in the Copa America.

The defending champions fell behind when Miguel Camargo put Panama ahead, but two goals from former QPR forward Eduardo Vargas turned the game on its head by half-time.

Sanchez then netted one of the goals of the tournament after 49 minutes, as he volleyed home Vargas’s chip with aplomb.

Abdiel Arroyo pulled one back for Panama in the 75th minute before Sanchez added his second and Chile’s fourth in the 89th minute.

Elsewhere, Argentina scored three times in the first-half to stroll past Bolivia and seal top spot in Group D at the Copa America Centenario.

Goals from Erik Lamela, Ezequiel Lavezzi and Victor Cuesta put Gerardo Martino’s side in cruise control by the 32-minute mark.

Bolivia’s defenders won’t have been too happy to see substitute Lionel Messi come on at half-time but the Barcelona man couldn’t add to the scoring as the match finished 3-0.

Argentina will now meet Venezuela in the last eight, while Chile will face Mexico.

The other two quarter-finals see USA take on Ecuador and Peru meet Colombia.
