Conte: We Need Two Or Three More Transfer Windows To Compete

Antonio Conte has stated that Tottenham will require another two or three transfer windows to compete with Europe’s best clubs.

Spurs’ transfer window was extremely successful. They were able to solve the majority of their squad’s problems by making some important additions.

However, Conte still doesn’t think his team is prepared to compete against the greatest teams in the Premier League and the Champions League.

The games are coming thick and fast between now and the World Cup break, beginning this week with the opening round of Champions League matches.

Tottenham’s squad depth is undoubtedly greater now than it was last season. Although, over the coming months, it will continually be put to the test.

How Does Conte Rates Tottenham’s Chances?

Conte after the closure of the transfer window said: “In this transfer window we did what the club could do. And I think that we did good things.

“But I have to be honest with you because if I see the other squads of the top teams there is still too much distance.

“And for this reason we have to know that we’ve just started this process to try to improve the squad.

“In this transfer window we tried to do this and also in January, with Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski. For sure to be competitive, to fight to be a title contender, but also to get a place in Champions League.

“You need at least three transfer windows more before improving and being at the same level as the other top clubs.”
