Chukwueze delighted after promotion at Villarreal

Nigeria teenage star Samuel Chukwueze has revealed his delight at his promotion at Villarreal following a successful campaign.

Chukwueze started the season with the Spanish side’s U19 team and also played for the team C, but after an impressive campaign which saw him net seven goals playing from the wings including a stunning hat-trick in an 8-3 win over UCD Murcia, the club decided to promote him to the team B.

Speaking from his base in Spain, Chukwueze, who won the bronze boot at the U17 World Cup in Chile in 2015 said he is happy with his progress with the Yellow Submarines and has his eyes set on breaking into the first team at Villarreal.

“I’m very happy to be promoted to the (Villarreal’s) team B,” began the former Arsenal target.

“It was my pleasure to help the U19s and I’m happy to have scored so many goals. I’ll do my best to help my new team but my ultimate goal is to make it to the first team very soon.”

Chukwueze was an integral member of the team that won the U17 World Cup for Nigeria in 2015 and was a subject of a transfer to Premier League giants Arsenal but the move fell through in the last minute.

He is however living up to expectations at Villarreal and he is already tipped for rapid progression to the first team if he continue to progress as expected at the club.
