Chelsea step up pursuit of Ecuador wonderkid Moises Caicedo

Chelsea have stepped into the chase for Ecuador midfielder Moises Caicedo.

The 19-year old has attracted attention from Manchester United though the club insist that, while he is of interest, they are not in advanced talks with his club.

This is despite reports in South America that a £4.5million transfer is close to completion which would take Caicedo from Independiente del Valle to Old Trafford.

Chelsea scouts have followed his progress and the club have held discussions with intermediaries as they consider their own bid for the teenager, who has four full caps for his country.

There is varied Premier League interest from other clubs, with Steve Bruce’s underperforming Newcastle interested in signing the four-cap international.

Brighton are also among the sides reportedly keen to sign up Caicedo, who is the first ever player born in the 21st century to score in a CONMEBOL World Cup qualifier.
