Chelsea Star Willing To Miss Return Date As He Waits For Move

Romelu Lukaku is hesitant to go back to Chelsea on Wednesday while he awaits news on Inter Milan’s efforts to re-sign him on a permanent basis.

According to the Independent, Chelsea have given the 30-year-old a due date of Wednesday to resume preseason training If an agreement for his exit had not been reached. But the Belgian is anticipated to stay away regardless of whether Inter’s latest offer is instantly accepted.

With bonuses, Inter will increase their initial bid for the Belgium international to almost £35 million. Although that amount will still fall short of Chelsea’s £40 million asking price.

Lukaku was supposed to return to Chelsea’s Cobham base on Wednesday or Thursday, according to new head coach Mauricio Pochettino. But it now appears the Argentine is unlikely to get his way.

It is unclear if Lukaku will stay away with Chelsea’s approval given that Inter have started fresh discussions to sell him.

Lukaku is still motivated to attempt to return to the Italian club where he spent last season on loan, despite the fact that Chelsea have already rejected one offer from Inter.

The 30-year-old is reportedly not interested in joining Juventus, who had been linked to him, and has rejected an offer from Saudi Arabia.

This week, Hakim Ziyech and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are also scheduled to return to Chelsea for preseason training together.

Both players have received offers from Saudi Arabia. And it has been mentioned that should they return, they might have to train separately from Pochettino’s core first-team squad.
