Chelsea Send Scouts To Watch Porto’s Diogo Costa

Chelsea have reportedly been scouting Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa as they prepare to address their goalkeeping situation in the summer.

During the January transfer window, the Blues hierarchy spent relentlessly to acquire the services of eight players, seven of whom are ready to compete for a first-team spot in the second half of the season.

Chelsea will have to respond with player sales and exits at some point in order to improve their FFP position, but this is unlikely to prevent them from making further changes in the summer.

Despite having several goalkeeping options, the future goalkeeping situation at Stamford Bridge appears far from certain.

Despite keeping three clean sheets in a row, Kepa Arrizabalaga remains linked with a move away, while Edouard Mendy is said to be unwilling to sign a new contract after losing his place in the team.

However, according to 90min, Chelsea is interested in competing for the signing of Costa from Porto.

The Portugal international only recently signed a new long-term contract at Estadio do Dragao, tying him to Porto until 2027.

Nonetheless, the 23-year-old has been frequently linked with a move to a bigger European club, with Manchester United reportedly a fan.

When Porto renegotiated new terms with Costa, they included a £65m release clause to increase their chances of keeping their most valuable asset.

However, according to the report, Chelsea are one of several teams that are continuing to scout Costa in the hopes of making a formal approach.

Costa rose through the Porto academy ranks and has since made 93 appearances in all competitions, keeping 40 clean sheets.
