Chelsea players dominate Carragher and Neville’s Team of the Season so far

David Luiz, N’Golo Kante and Diego Costa have made Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville’s combined Premier League team of the season so far.

English football has seen Leicester City crowned champions of England for the first time in their history, the arrivals of some of the best tacticians in the world, not to mention a number of impressive individual performances – all in the space of 12 months.

Therefore, the Sky Sports pundits were given the tough task of agreeing on a team in which they felt represented the best the Premier League had to offer in 2016.

Following last night’s Merseyside derby at Goodison Park, Carragher and Neville each announced who made their respective XI’s beforehand, then after lengthy debate, finally settled on a combined side.

Carragher decided to pick young Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford in goal, while he also picked Southampton duo Virgil van Dijk and Ryan Bertrand.

Meanwhile, Gary Neville named the likes of Chelsea star Thibaut Courtois and Tottenham’s Danny Rose.

The midfield selection would have proven difficult for Carragher and Neville as there has been a number of standout performers over the calendar year. Neville elected to go with Fernandinho alongside Kante, while Carragher picked Liverpool star Adam Lallana.

Finally, in attack the respective Liverpool and Manchester United legends have both picked Costa, but Neville picked Zlatan Ibrahimovic while Carragher went for Arsenal superstar Alexis Sanchez.
