Chelsea Owners’ Stance On Sacking Liam Rosenior Following A Rare Todd Boehly Appearance

Despite a dismal week, Chelsea’s owners allegedly believe Liam Rosenior will be a success at Stamford Bridge and have no plans to replace managers. The Blues were knocked out of the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain, with Tuesday’s 3-0 defeat in west London adding to last week’s 5-2 loss in the French capital.

The second leg defeat came just days after Chelsea’s hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League were dashed, as the two-time European champions lost at home to Newcastle. According to sources, if Chelsea fails to finish in the Champions League qualification areas, the club’s administration may attempt to fire Rosenior in the summer.

However, the Daily Mail reports that Chelsea’s hierarchy is still committed to the six-and-a-half-year contract he signed in January. It is also stated that the squad continues to support the manager, despite criticism from Chelsea fans and the wider football world.

It comes after co-owner Todd Boehly made an unexpected cameo in the second leg of Chelsea’s match against PSG in midweek. Boehly is not a regular at Stamford Bridge, but he made the trek in the hopes of having a memorable night in the capital. Instead, the American watched as PSG annihilated Rosenior’s men with complete ease.

Chelsea’s season is far from over. In addition to the eight Premier League matches, they have an FA Cup campaign to focus on. Assuming they do not suffer the biggest FA Cup upset in recent memory against Port Vale in the quarter-finals next month, they will have a semi-final at Wembley later in the month.
