Chelsea Finally Agree Aubameyang Deal With Barcelona

Chelsea and Barcelona reach an agreement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, in a move that will see Marcos Alonso go the other way.

The Gabonese player joined Barcelona in January from Arsenal, and is now on the way back to London. Chelsea are paying in the region of £10m plus Alonso for the former Arsenal striker.

Aubameyang has been given permission to fly to the UK for his medical and to finalize the agreement.

In a weekend attack on his home, Aubameyang sustained a minor jaw fracture. The Gabon attacker, who will be out for three weeks, can start non-contact training again the following week.

Thomas Tuchel is eager to work with Aubameyang once more despite his reluctance to discuss the player in public. Aubameyang scored 79 goals for him in two seasons at Borussia Dortmund.

This summer, Tuchel has already spent £268m on players, including Kalidou Koulibaly, Raheem Sterling, Marc Cucurella, and Wesley Fofana.

“Some players stay your players because you were very, very close – and Auba is one of those players,” Tuchel told journalists last month, effectively confirming reports Chelsea were eying a move for the forward.

After losing 2-1 to Southampton on Tuesday, the Blues have just seven points after five games this season. They are in serious need of any sort of motivation.
