Chelsea Defender Unwilling To Leave, Wants To Impress Pochettino

Chelsea defender, Marc Cucurella has reportedly rejected the chances to leave the club as he is keen to impress new manager, Mauricio Pochettino.

The defender, according to recent reports is a subject of interest from Newcastle United and Atletico Madrid in Spain.

The Evening Standard reported that he has decided to remain still at the club and fight for a starting spot under the Argentine manager.

Cucurella, who cost £62 million from Brighton last summer, was reportedly put up for sale. And Chelsea had inquired with Saudi Arabian clubs about potential sales.

Despite Atletico Madrid briefly considering the possibility of bringing the Spain international back to LaLiga, the player seems to be discouraged with the potential move.

Cucurella’s choice to refuse a transfer away from the club demonstrates how confident he is in his skills. And how determined he is to succeed under Pochettino’s direction.

Since joining Chelsea from Brighton a year ago, the Spanish defender has been a bit of a mixed bag. The full-back has occasionally reminded supporters of why former manager Graham Potter signed him. But he has also occasionally shown inexperienced.

However, the defender’s resolve to remain at Stamford Bridge shows his dedication to the club and his desire to play a significant role in the team’s long-term success.

Cucurella’s choice has obviously been greatly influenced by the hiring of Pochettino, a manager renowned for his tactical nous and capacity to nurture young players.

The 24-year-old clearly sees this as a chance to further develop his skills and achieve greater things in his career. And Pochettino is widely recognized for his great record of developing players.
