Chelsea and Leverkusen agree £100m total package for Havertz

Chelsea and Bayer Leverkusen have reached terms for Kai Havertz, it has been revealed.

Original reports suggested Chelsea were hopeful of landing the forward for around £70million but BILD reports a total package of £100million has now been agreed.

The structured deal will see Chelsea pay £80m up front with a further £20m dependant on clauses.

Some of those clauses are thought to be fairly achievable, such as regularly qualifying for the Champions League and going beyond the group stage.

Others are more unpredictable as they relate to Chelsea winning silverware with the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup the prime targets.

Of the total fee Leverkusen expect to receive at least £90million of it, eclipsing the £71m fee The Blues paid for goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga in 2018.

Havertz is set to sign a five-year contract at Stamford Bridge with the clauses thought to refer to his achievements within that timeframe.
