Chelsea And Arsenal Target Agrees New Contract Offer With Release Clause

Chelsea and Arsenal transfer target, Victor Osimhen has reportedly agreed in principle to sign a new contract at Napoli with a new release clause inserted.

The 24-year-old striker’s current contract expires in 2025. Although the Serie A defending champions initially wanted to keep the towering forward until 2027, the agreement will extend his stay by an additional 12 months.

Napoli acted swiftly to secure a deal before the January transfer window. But they are aware that a summer transfer is still possible because Osimhen’s new contract has an enticing release clause.

According to 90min, Osimhen’s contract has a €120 million (£112 million) clause added by Napoli. It is believed that any interested party would have to pay that amount to get the Nigeria international out of his current club. Additionally, Osimhen’s team emphasized that they would not sign a new agreement without the provision.

The African Player of the Year has been in talks to sign a new contract with Napoli, something his principal suitors, Chelsea have been well aware of. Reports understand that this does not affect Chelsea’s plans to move for him in the summer.

Osimhen’s desire to sign a new deal may be the only thing that surprised some after the 24-year-old was publicly ridiculed on Napoli’s official TikTok account for missing a penalty for the team earlier this season.

In regards to the incident, Osimhen recently stated that he had no problems with the club or president Aurelio De Laurentiis.

“I was not treated badly by Napoli or De Laurentiis. I’m sorry to say this word, but it was a stupid error from somebody who thought he could use a thing like that to joke at a crucial moment”, he said.
