Ceballos refuses to commit to rejoining Arsenal amid interest from former club Real Betis

Dani Ceballos has revealed that he will hold talks with Real Madrid about his future after their Champions League game against Manchester City.

Ceballos was loaned out by Real Madrid for the season and concluded his temporary spell at Arsenal by helping the Gunners to prevail past Chelsea in the FA Cup final, but it isn’t currently clear where he will be playing next season.

There is interest in Ceballos from Real Betis, where he commenced his career, and the 23-year-old will take his time to assess his options.

Ceballos told El Partidazo de COPE: ‘I haven’t spoken to Real Madrid yet, but anyone who wears that shirt is happy.

‘Madrid are better than any club in the world. We’ll see about my future.

‘I’m not thinking about whether or not I can play for Real Madrid, Arsenal or another club.

‘Now it’s time to disconnect. I have to be calm and think clearly with my family about the coming year.’

Real Madrid face City away on Friday, with the Premier League side having a 2-1 lead from the first leg of the last-16 tie.

Ceballos made a major impact for Arsenal early in the season against Burnley but struggled for a sustained period thereafter and also endured a spell on the sidelines.

However, he managed to work his way back into contention and ended the season as a key player for Mikel Arteta’s side.

Ceballos also scored a crucial late winner for Arsenal in their FA Cup quarter-final success against Sheffield United, but it remains to be seen if he will return to the club next season.

After joining Real Madrid in 2017, Ceballos made 56 appearances across two seasons, but he could find regular playing time difficult to come by if he returns to the Bernabeu.

Arsenal will be eager to call upon Ceballos again next season but they now face an anxious wait to see where he will end up.
