Buruj Sports Academy solicit Ambode’s assistance over UK trip

 

The management of Lagos-based Buruj Sports Academy has appealed to the sports-loving governor of Lagos State, His Excellency Mr Akinwunmi Ambode to render financial assistance to the Academy as it seek to attend two major international competitions slated for this year in the United Arab Emirates as well as the United Kingdom.
In a letter to the governor, signed by the Academy’s CEO Dr Salaudeen Waheed, the management wants the Lagos State chief executive to use his good offices to come to the aid of the Academy which attended both the Dubai International Super Cup as well as the Welsh Super Cup last year.
The letter read in part: “Following our experiences and exploits during our participation at the Dubai International Cup in April 2016 and the Welsh International Super Cup in the United Kingdom in August 2016; and coupled with the fond memories the contingent had in terms of exposure and education about modern trends in football…we have been invited again to participate in these tournaments.”
In other to have a meaningful representation at the tournaments, Buruj Academy there solicited the kind sponsorship of the Lagos state governor to enable the team’s 25-man delegation attend and participate.
To make the dream of attending these competitions possible, Buruj Sports Academy requires a total of twenty eight million, four hundred and fifty thousand (N28.45m).

 

 

 

 
The Academy, established in 2008, has been instrumental in shaping the career and future of several young Nigerians who have gone on to make a name for themselves in the round leather game.

 

Buruj Sports Academy played a major part in the campaigns that brought the incumbent governor into office in 2015 with the dedication of the Academy’s publication (Buruj Sports Magazine) to the publication of candidate Ambode’s programs and manifesto for Lagosians.
Dr Waheed reckons that the support for Ambode’s candidacy was as a result of his firm belief that he possessed the requirement to make a success of the task of governing Lagos state, particularly the sports sub-sector and the governor’s giant strides since coming into office has proven that he was the right man for the job.
He said: “We deployed our resources to support His Excellency during the campaigns and we are happy with his achievements so far. Now we need his assistance in order to push the vision of the Academy further and also help realize his own determination to provide the enabling environment for every Lagosian to realize their optimum potential. We know we can count on him.”
The letter has been submitted to the office of the Chief of Staff to the governor for prompt intervention and necessary attention.
It boasts of modern sports facilities and seasoned instructors who have what it takes to bring out the best in talented players with programmes designed in such a way that it does not hinder or interrupt academic pursuit as the two go hand in hand.
