Bruno Fernandes identifies Man Utd’s main problem ahead of Europa League final

Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes has identified his side’s main problem ahead of next week’s Europa League final.

The Red Devils will travel to Gdansk to face Villarreal next Wednesday in search of their first piece of silverware under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Their final week leading up to the showpiece match did not get off to a good start, with Solskjaer’s side being held to a draw by relegated Fulham on Tuesday.

Though they are still set to finish second in the Premier League table, United were far from convincing against the Cottagers, with Joe Bryan’s late goal claiming a point for the visitors.

Fernandes has become one of United’s most important players this season, scoring 28 goals and notching 18 assists in all competitions.

He added another assist in the draw with Fulham, though Fernandes is not worried that the Red Devils have lost their way with their biggest game of the season just a week away.

“No concerns because we all know the focus has to be there,” he told Sky Sports.

“But when you have to end the season without trying to get first place in the Premier League, sometimes we don’t do the right things in the right moments, conceding goals and making some mistakes.

“The focus has been there. Today we conceded a goal, well played from Fulham I think. If you look through the performance I think we played really well.”

United had 13 shots against Scott Parker’s side, with six of those being on target.

Fernandes singled out their struggle to convert those chances into goals as being the hosts’ main issue leading into the clash with Villarreal.

“We didn’t score the chances we had. Sometimes it’s our problem in games we draw and lose. We create many chances but we don’t score,” the midfielder added.

“I think in the future I think this problem will change and now our focus has to be on the next game against Wolves.

“We then have three days before the final in the Europa League and I think we have enough to prepare well.”
