Brendan Rodgers Criticizes New Chelsea Signing’s Farewell Post

Brendan Rodgers blasted Wesley Fofana’s departure note from Leicester City as a “cheap shot” following his transfer to Chelsea.

Fofana joined Chelsea for £75m last week and after the move was confirmed, Fofana posted a goodbye note on Instagram for the King Power Stadium fans.

The message took a jab at his former coach, claiming Rodgers “chose to expose” him in the final days before the decision was made.

Rodgers dropped Fofana near the end of his tenure at Leicester, claiming that his mind was not in the right place. His big-money move to Chelsea was confirmed not long after.

Rodgers addressed the issue at his pre-game press conference on Friday.

What Did Rodgers Say?

When asked how he felt about Fofana’s remarks, Leicester’s manager responded: “I would say the post didn’t come from Wesley.

“I know that for sure because of my experiences, where I had a message from Wesley.

“The post is a cheap shot towards the end from people, rather than him. The kid is a great lad. I’m not happy he has left because I’ve lost a top player.

“I’m not going to sit here and destroy a young lad when I know really where the message has come from.”

For Rodgers, the 22/23 campaign could not have gotten off to a worse start. In their first five games, his Leicester team has only earned one point, and the club leadership is looking more and more likely to fire him.
