Benzema Scores A Brace As Real Madrid Dispatches Espanyol

With two late goals from Karim Benzema, Real Madrid defeated a determined Espanyol 3-1 to keep their perfect record this season intact.

Vinicius Junior scored the game’s opening goal with a beautiful finish, but Joselu Mato tied the score just before halftime.

After the break, both teams had scoring opportunities, but it was Madrid who came away with the victory thanks to Benzema.

He popped up at the back post to volley in Rodrygo’s cross in the 88th minute for his first goal. He then scored a beautiful free kick in stoppage time to earn his brace.

Madrid had to work hard for this victory after conceding the goal in first half. However, they fought back to earn a really amazing three points, showing why they are the reigning champions.

Coach Ancelotti shuffled his pack in defence, going for a rather different approach to what we’ve seen. He opted for Rudiger to pair Militao at the heart of the defence with Alaba playing from the right back position.

Meanwhile, Aurelien Tchouameni who has been tasked with filling the shoes of departed midfielder Casemiro delivered a spectacular game.

Within 12 minutes he assisted Vinicius for the first goal, and this set the tone for a promising display at the base of midfield.
