Bayern Munich Set To Appoint Xabi Alonso As Club’s Manager After Thomas Tuchel

Following the announcement that Thomas Tuchel will be leaving at the end of the season, Bayern Munich is also looking for a new head coach.

In March 2022, Tuchel became a part of Bayern and his performances this season have fallen short of expectations. He did contribute to the team’s Bundesliga title retention.

It is improbable that Bayern will win the Bundesliga for the first time in twelve years. After 26 games, the Bavarian team is ten points behind Bayer Leverkusen, the league leaders.

Bayern met with Tuchel following their three straight defeats in February and made the decision to part ways at the end of the campaign.

The German coach was unhappy with this decision because he had planned to stay in Munich through 2025. Bayern wants Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso to replace Tuchel. There have reportedly been preliminary talks between the Bayern club and the Spanish coach.

Uli Hoeness, board member of Bayern Munich, confirmed Die Roten’s interest in Xabi Alonso in an interview with Ran Sport this week.

He claims that: “Xabi Alonso has proven that he can be a coach for the really big teams and it will be much more difficult because clubs like Liverpool, Real Madrid, Leverkusen [to keep him] and also FC Bayern are working on it.

There’s hardly a coach who is suitable and is currently free. Instead, there are coaches who are under contract somewhere and having great success. It’s not so easy to tell them that FC Bayern is the place to be.”

Alonso’s Level Of Success At Bayer Leverkusen

Alonso has performed admirably for Bayer Leverkusen this season. They now have a sizable lead in the Bundesliga title contest thanks to him.

If Bayer Leverkusen can maintain this level of play for the next eight games, it will be their first league title. Bayer Leverkusen is leading the Bundesliga title race and dominating cup competitions (DFB Pokal and Europa League).

According to Bayern Strikes, the Spanish coach has instilled a winning mentality in the squad because they usually bounce back from losses to win games. Leverkusen has a strong work ethic.

Football also has a very appealing style because he spent the last three years of his playing career with Bayern. Alonso was acquainted with the city’s culture.

For Xabi Alonso, Liverpool will be a fierce rival of Bayern. The Merseyside club is also looking for a new head coach as a result of Jurgen Klopp’s departure at the end of the current campaign.

Carlo Ancelotti has a contract with Real Madrid through 2025, despite earlier rumors linking Alonso and the Spanish team. Regarding the discussions and negotiations for a new coach, Max Eberl has remained silent.

He did, however, mention Alonso by name this week when speaking with the media. To start the upcoming season strong, the Bavarian team will aim to come to an agreement with Alonso before the season ends.
