Barcelona Willing To Part Ways With Prodigy To Land A Right Back

FC Barcelona are getting ready for a busy summer as the Catalans anticipate adding to their roster in a number of areas.

But given the club’s hopeless financial situation. Xavi’s wishlist will only be realized with careful signing and worthwhile transfer-window concessions.

The Catalan club is considering swapping one of their La Masia products for Villarreal’s right-back, Juan Foyth. The defender has been tipped for a move to Camp Nou. Though, Jules Kounde currently plays in that position. But the Blaugrana wants more competitiveness in the right-back slot. So, the Submarine full-back has been touted for a move in order to bring more solidity at the back.

The defender’s reported price tag, though, is €55 million, which is significantly more than what Barcelona are willing to pay for the player. The Blaugranas are considering offering one of their young jewels as a sacrifice in exchange for his services.

According to Javi Miguel of Diario AS, in order to bring the cost of Foyth down to roughly €30M because Xavi is still interested in signing the player. Barcelona will reportedly offer loanee Nico Gonzales to Villarreal.

Meeting Villarreal’s initial price tag may seem unlikely given Catalan’s financial situation. But a potential swap with Nico might help reduce their transfer demands. Nico, who is currently on loan at Valencia, has had a challenging season as injuries have impeded his progress.

If this agreement with Villarreal goes through, Xavi will get a player he has always been intrigued. With a remarkable ability to carry the ball out of defense and initiate attacking plays, Foyth excels as a ball-playing defender.
