Barcelona To Play Friendlies At Season End To Generate Income

It is no secret that Barcelona are finding it difficult to meet their salary cap next summer, and the Blaugrana are looking to take advantage of any and all sources of income and cost saving.

Using their biggest asset, their star-studded team, will be one of those tactics.

Barcelona recently made it known that they will be doing a thorough audit of the club in an effort to identify other areas where they could make cuts. Their main objective this summer is to cut the pay budget by €200m in order to meet La Liga’s requirements.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona’s final few games of the season will probably include friendlies abroad.

Meanwhile, the preseason tour next season will once again take place in the USA, as they look to exploit one of the larger markets available, while there will be at least one friendly abroad at the end of this campaign.

Barcelona earned €5m for a friendly of a similar nature last season in Australia, it is one of the candidates to host another along with Japan or China.

The fact they will not be in the Europa League means that they will not be in action in the final week of the European calendar, ahead of an international break.
