Barcelona Sporting Director updates on Brazilian wonderkid’s Arrival In January

FC Barcelona were able to significantly lower their wage bill over the last year, but this reduction has still not been enough to allow Barcelona any room for movement in the upcoming winter window.

The main objective for Barcelona in this winter window is to ensure the arrival of Brazilian starlet Vitor Roque, but the club will have to work very hard in the upcoming two and a half months to be able to achieve this objective.

As previously reported by SPORT, Barcelona Sporting Director Deco recently said as much in an interview with Mundo Deportivo. Barcelona will struggle to strengthen themselves in the winter transfer window, according to the Sporting Director.

“I believe it will be difficult to make new additions.” We will always be on the lookout for opportunities, but I don’t believe it will be achievable.”

The arrival of Vitor Roque

Deco did agree that there was still a potential to sign Vitor Roque this winter, but he also hinted that his arrival could be delayed until the summer:

“It was clear from the start with Athletico Paranaense that Vitor could only come from January, which was one of the terms of the agreement, but we will try.” We’ll see what we can come up with. He’s a player we’ve signed for the present and the future, and we have a lot of faith in him, but we’ll have to wait a little longer to see how we can work this out. If not now, it will undoubtedly be in July.”

Deco went on to say that while he has spoken with Xavi about the coming of Vitor Roque, no talks have taken place about a replacement for Oriol Romeu.
