Barcelona are reportedly set to not exercise their £26 million option to buy Marcus Rashford from Manchester United on a permanent basis this summer.
Any mention of the Catalan side has already been removed from the England player’s Instagram bio.
Unless a deal with another team can be agreed in the meantime, Rashford, 28, is now set to return to United after this summer’s World Cup. The option to sign him is reportedly set to expire two days before England’s first game against Group L foes Croatia, on Monday.
Anthony Gordon has essentially been chosen by the Spanish champions over Rashford. Late last month, the Blaugrana agreed a £60 million deal with Newcastle United.
According to Marca as reported by the Daily Star, Rashford’s relationship with Barcelona has ended, and the team will be saying goodbye to the loanee from last season as he won’t be coming back for the upcoming campaign.
Gordon’s Arrival Signalled Rashford’s End At Barca
The report claim that Gordon’s signing signalled a decline in their desire to sign Rashford permanently.
The article emphasizes that Raphinha is anticipated to start as the striker and that both players play the same position. According to the Mirror, Gordon’s agreement has financial ramifications as well.
Both would cost around the same amount per year when wages are taken into account. But Hansi Flick wants Gordon because he presses more effectively and is three and a half years younger than Rashford.

Rashford has chatted to Gordon about Barcelona while in England’s squad, despite the uncertainty surrounding his future. The latter revealed to talkSPORT:
“He was just telling me how good the lads are there, the team spirit that they have, which I heard already from the people in Barca.
“So I’m really looking forward to joining up with them. He was also telling me about the city, places to live. He’s a lovely guy, very caring. So he was just giving me a bit of information.”
