Xabi Alonso Urged To Raid Liverpool For A Surprise Reunion As Chelsea First Transfer

New Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso is expected to sign Liverpool defender Jeremie Frimpong this summer after a successful partnership with him at Bayer Leverkusen.

Frimpong has yet to find his best role in the Liverpool team and has not been named to the Netherlands’ World Cup squad, but there is no chance he will be sold a year after joining for $40 million (£29 million).

Gaizka Mendieta suggests Frimpong as a potential alternative for Alonso as he reshapes his Chelsea team. The Spaniard may return to utilizing wing-backs, as he did with success in Germany.

Managers rely on trusted players from past teams, while players want to regain their form.

We frequently see players reconciling with past managers for this reason, especially when things aren’t going well for them, such as Frimpong at Liverpool.

“It’s a way of getting them back to form, hoping you can get the maximum out of the player and help you win things.

Frimpong failed to adjust to the Premier League’s intensity during his initial season at Liverpool. Getting fitter and stronger this summer can make a significant impact.

The Telegraph in April that he had suffered several injuries. “Normally, I do not get wounded. I’ve only had a layoff once before, for surgery following a nasty tackle.

“There was nothing I could do about it.” But for it to happen to me? My hamstrings? This has never happened in my career.

“I’ve had three injuries and the team isn’t performing as well as it should. “There have been several obstacles. If we had won the FA Cup or the Champions League, it wouldn’t have been as horrible.”
