Chelsea have become the latest club to reveal their retained and released list, with four players set to depart.
Among the four is outstanding talent Richard Olise, the younger brother of Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise. According to Chelsea News, Olise is hardly the first unusual name to be dropped.
The defender has been with the Blues’ youth system since he was nine years old, and he has played at every age level along the way.
He has yet to break into either England’s or France’s junior setup, having made only one England U18 appearance.
He also never threatened to break into the Chelsea senior team, just making the squad for one Conference League match, but at the age of 21, it was time for both sides to move on.

Samuel Rak-Sakyi, who made a senior appearance, was unexpectedly released. The midfielder shown technical talent and comfort in a deeper midfield spot in the Conference League, but he made little mark in 2025/26.
If not for Olise’s surname and family ties, Rak-Sakyi would be the most well-known name here, but the midfielder is only recognized to those who followed the Conference League season.
Jimi Tauiainen’s contract was also not renewed after six years with the club and only one appearance as a substitute with the first team.
Striker Ronnie Stutter is still on a monthly contract, which allows him to continue training until he finds another destination.
All four have been released as the club makes difficult decisions to focus on the club’s emerging talent, including Ryan Kavuma-McQueen, Genesis Antwi, and other players.
