Barcelona lose for the first time in a match that Suarez scored

Barcelona have lost for the first time in a match that Luis Suarez has scored in.

Sunday’s 2-1 LaLiga loss against Deportivo La Coruna at the Riazor was the 73rd Barca match in all competitions that had seen Suarez find the net.

The previous 72 had seen Barca go on to win 67 and draw five, but this shock loss ended that remarkable run.

Four days after recording the biggest comeback in Champions League history against Paris Saint-Germain, Barca were extremely poor as they fell to a costly defeat in the title race.

Joselu punished a first-half mistake from goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen to put hosts Depor ahead after his only other two league goals this season had come against Real Madrid.

Suarez, who scored four when Barca won 8-0 at the Riazor last season, appeared to have got the visitors back on track after the break within a minute of the restart.

But Depor captain Alex Bergantinos’ header with 16 minutes remaining proved decisive.

Meanwhile, Luis Suarez scores 20 league goals for the sixth time in his career

With Barcelona trailing early in the second half against Deportivo La Coruna, Luis Suarez’s run without a LaLiga goal ended after he slammed home his 20th of the domestic campaign – the sixth time he’s achieved the feat.

The Uruguayan was fastest to react to a loose ball in the box and he left Depor keeper German Lux no chance.

It was the striker’s 29th in all competitions and marked the second time he’s reached 20 goals in the league in Spain.

He also managed to hit the mark in two separate Premier League campaigns with Liverpool, and twice more with Ajax in the Eredivise.
