Premier League 2016/17 fixtures: Arsenal begin with tough home clash against Liverpool

Arsenal‘s Premier League fixture list for the 2016/17 season has been released and they face a tough start at home against Liverpool.

Arsenal fans are heading into the new season with a slightly renewed sense of optimism after finally signing a defensive midfielder in Granit Xhaka while their move for Jamie Vardy also signals intent from Arsene Wenger.

The Gunners started last season on a sour note with the home defeat to West Ham United and a draw with Liverpool but they soon turned it around and ended the season finishing second, one place above Tottenham.

After one game last season they were bottom of the league so Arsene Wenger will certainly be hoping for a much brighter start this time around, though that has been made difficult by their starting fixtures as they face Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool at the Emirates before a trip to the reigning champions Leicester City.

The first north London derby of the season will take place at the Emirates on November 5.

With Jose Mourinho now at the helm at Old Trafford, Wenger will be able to lock horns with him once again when he faces Manchester United on November 18 away from home.

The Gunners finish their season with four tough fixtures, facing Spurs away, United at home, Stoke City away and then finishing at home to Everton.
