Arsenal Star Misses Training After Sustaining Head Injury Against Liverpool

Gabriel Jesus did not train with the team ahead of the Europa League match between Arsenal and Bodo/Glimt on Thursday.

The Brazilian international was struck in the head by Kostas Tsimikas’ elbow during Sunday’s 3-2 victory over Liverpool at the Emirates.

The 25-year-old needed a lengthy examination on the field but eventually managed to continue before Eddie Nketiah replaced him.

After being assessed, Jesus has reportedly not suffered a concussion and was thought to be available for the trip to Norway. However, the former Manchester City player was absent from the Wednesday training session for Arsenal.

Jesus has made an impression in north London since his transfer from the Premier League champions. He has scored five goals and provided five assists.

After Sunday’s victory, Mikel Arteta was asked about his forward’s condition and responded, “I don’t know. I haven’t been with the doctor yet, I’m sure they are checking him.

“He seemed ok after the game. I don’t know actually what happened but we’ll assess how well he is.”

Victory over Liverpool saw Arsenal move back to the summit of the Premier League having won eight of their nine league games.

Their only blemish is a defeat away to Manchester United. Arteta’s side head to Elland Road on Sunday.
