Arsenal Reach Full Agreement On Blockbuster Signing With Medical To Be Completed

Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi is set to have a medical ahead of his move to Arsenal.

The La Liga team and Arsenal have previously agreed on the £51 million release clause for the Spain international.

According to the BBC, Arsenal will be able to announce Zubimendi’s signing—their first summer acquisition—once the 26-year-old passes the medical.

It is acknowledged that the pertinent paperwork pertaining to Zubimendi’s move to the Emirates has been signed. The midfield player, who performed admirably at the Euros last summer, has long been a target for the team.

A year ago, Zubimendi was strongly linked to Liverpool, but Sociedad’s management were able to persuade the midfielder to stay. After signing Mikel Merino last summer, Arsenal have raided the Spanish club for the second time in as many summers.

Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres are two of the Gunners’ top targets for a new striker in addition to Zubimendi.

The Spaniard will strengthen Arsenal’s midfield, which has recently seen players like Declan Rice. Zubimendi’s versatility and skill set will offer Arteta more options in the middle of the park, as Jorginho has announced his exit.

Sociedad’s president had previously said: “He’s had several opportunities to leave and he’ll make the decision he wants, because he’ll have more options.”
