Arsenal Prepared To Pay Big Money For Lautaro Martinez

Arsenal are reportedly willing to pay a high price to sign Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez this summer.

The Gunners are in contention to win their first Premier League title in nearly two decades this season, as they presently sit atop the standings, two points ahead of reigning champions Manchester City with a game in hand.

Mikel Arteta has had to deal with restricted options in attack in recent months due to the absence of summer signing Gabriel Jesus, who suffered a knee injury during the 2022 World Cup.

Eddie Nketiah has primarily played as the center striker in Jesus’ absence, with Gabriel Martinelli and January signing Leandro Trossard also making appearances.

Reinforcements in the final third are expected ahead of the 2023-24 season, and according to GiveMeSport journalist Phil Brown, Inter striker Martinez has been on Arsenal’s radar for some time.

Brown reports that the Arsenal are willing to spend big on the 25-year-old, who is under contract at San Siro until June 2026.

Martinez joined Inter from Racing Club in the summer of 2018, and he has since established himself as a key player and one of the top strikers in Serie A.

The Argentina 2022 World Cup winner has 90 goals and 31 assists in 215 appearances with the Nerazzurri in all competitions, including 16 goals and seven assists in 34 games this season.

Inter are almost certain to give over the Serie A title to Napoli this season, with last weekend’s 1-0 defeat at Bologna giving the Parthenopeans an 18-point advantage at the top.

Martinez expressed his disappointment following the loss to Bologna and dropped a hint that an exit could be on the cards in the near future.
