Arsenal Midfielder Set For Spell On Sidelines After Surgery On Groin Injury

The Premier League leaders announced on Thursday that Emile Smith Rowe, who just had a surgery on a groin injury, won’t return to Arsenal training until at least December.

The 22-year-old Smith Rowe, who scored 10 league goals in his breakthrough campaign last year, has had limited game time this season.

He has only made four substitute appearances, with his most recent coming against Manchester United at the beginning of the month.

What Arsenal Said About Smith Rowe

“Following a significant setback at our Premier League match against Manchester United and after further specialist consultations and discussions with our medical team, Emile underwent surgery to repair a damaged tendon in his groin,” Arsenal said in a statement.

“This successful surgery took place in London in the past few days and Emile’s rehabilitation programme is already underway.

“We are hopeful that Emile will return to full training in December.”

Due to the midseason break for the World Cup in November and December, Smith Rowe is not anticipated to miss many games.

Nevertheless, he will miss about seven rounds of Premier League games. In addition, he’ll miss some of Arsenal’s Europa League and League Cup games.

Arsenal welcome north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby on Saturday.
