Arsenal ‘Keen’ To Sign Martin Zubimendi Ahead Of Three Other Big European Teams

According to reports, Arsenal is ahead of teams like Bayern Munich, Juventus, and AC Milan in the race to sign Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi.

Caught offside narrates that the Spain international has excelled during his time in La Liga, and it appears that many teams are keen to sign him when his current contract expires at the end of the current campaign.

However, the most recent information from Calciomercato indicates that Arsenal is currently in the best position to sign Zubimendi, even though teams like Bayern, Juventus, and Milan are also in the running. This is partially because of his costly release clause, which is set at €60 million.

Furthermore, the report states that Zubimendi makes about €4 million annually, and it’s a well-known fact that the Premier League is currently the location of most financial activity.

Declan Rice cost Arsenal a lot of money in the summer, but there may be space for improvement in the midfield area given that Jorginho is not getting any younger and Thomas Partey has not played much this year due to injuries.

Transfer Of Zubimendi: Where Will The Star Of Sociedad End Up Next?

Last week, journalist Charles Watts provided an exclusive explanation of Zubimendi’s situation and Arsenal’s previous interest to CaughtOffside.

“I do expect Arsenal to sign a midfielder this summer, but a lot will depend on what happens with the midfielders they currently have,” Watts said in his column.

He added: “Ideally they would like Jorginho to stay, and then they have to sort out Thomas Partey’s future. Partey still has a year left on his deal and, just like last summer, Arsenal would not stand in his way of leaving should a decent offer arrive for the Ghana international.

“Should that happen, then they would have to replace him and Martin Zubimendi is a player they believe can play the Partey role. Mikel Arteta knows Zubimendi well and is a big admirer of the Spain international, but there is uncertainty around whether he actually wants to leave Real Sociedad.

“There is also expected to be strong rival interest in the 25-year-old, so it might not be an easy deal to get done.”
