Arsenal In Battle With Saudi Arabian Clubs Over Gundogan

Arsenal are reportedly in competition with Saudi Arabian clubs over the signing of Manchester City captain, Ilkay Gundogan.

The German international, who has been touted with an exit from the Etihad despite City’s success, has long been admired by the Gunners.

The midfielder was reportedly one of Mikel Arteta’s top transfer targets for the summer, according to reports from last month.

However, due to rumors of interest from abroad, their chances of signing the 32-year-old in the upcoming months may have been dashed.

The Evening Standard via Daily Mail claims that clubs in Saudi Arabia are interested in Gundogan and may make an offer that could be competitive with Arsenal’s for the midfielder.

This season, Man City have already won the Premier League and FA Cup thanks in large part to the German international.

He might move to the Middle East, joining a growing list of players who have chosen to play in the Saudi league.

Karim Benzema’s three-year contract with Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ittihad after leaving Real Madrid was officially announced on Tuesday.

N’Golo Kante, a midfielder for Chelsea, is on the verge of a spectacular switch to the same club in a two-year, £172 million agreement.

Crystal Palace winger, Wilfried Zaha, has also been offered a hefty £45 million contract to play in the Middle East starting from next season.

Cristiano Ronaldo, a former star of Real Madrid and Manchester United, has been in the Saudi league since the turn of the year. He has played 16 games and has plundered 14 goals in the league.

PSG star Lionel Messi has also been rumored to move to the Middle East, but it now seems he will be leaving for Inter Miami in the MLS.
